About Natalie Keller Reinert

NKR Tampa Bay DownsNatalie Keller Reinert is the author of multiple series including The Eventing Series, Ocala Horse Girls, and Briar Hill Farm. Her novel The Hidden Horses of New York is the winner of the America Horse Publications Best Fiction Award and The Equus Film & Literary Festival Best Horse Racing Fiction Award; her novel Turning for Home was a finalist for the $10,000 Dr. Tony Ryan Book Award.

Originally from Hagerstown, Maryland, Reinert grew up in Central Florida and now lives in North Florida, where she writes full-time and enjoys the company of her family, horses, and cat. She’s always working on at least three new projects, is probably plotting a book festival or a new kind of magazine, and co-hosts the award-winning equestrian humor podcast Adulting With Horses Podcast, along with fellow author Heather Wallace.

In addition to Reinert’s interconnected equestrian series (which some fans have nicknamed “the Ocala-verse” since so many series are set in and around the horse-rich town of Ocala, Florida) she also enjoys writing romantic comedy and literary fiction. Her novel You Must Be This Tall explores the world of theme parks and fandom with a richly imagined theme park called America the Beautiful as its setting, while her romantic comedies take readers on swoony journeys through New York City, Palm Springs, and beyond.

Will there be a sequel to “Show Barn Blues?” I’m a native Floridian, intensely dislike developers, used to ride my horse on Ponte Vedra Beach and in the area where Sawgrass is now before the developers wrecked it. I have loved horses all my life and really relate to Grace. She lives the life of my dreams. Thank you for writing such a delightful book and I hope there will be another. Grace needs to catch the bad guys, trail ride with Snowbirds and let us know what happened to her first pony!

Hi Mitzi! Thanks so much for the comment! I know the Sawgrass area, too. It’s hard to watch Florida get plowed under this way. That’s why I hope there’s another story about Grace in the future. It seems we need to speak up about our natural resources now, more than ever. Some people never learn.
You can also find more Grace in Pride, Book 2 of The Eventing Series!

Hi There! I just finished reading all three books in the Eventing Series, and I loved them all! I was just wondering if there was ever going to be another book in that series, and if so, do you know when this will happen?! Thank you for giving your readers great books to interest them!

Be still my horse-loving, writerly heart! I found a post you had written on the Equestrian Culture website and googled your name because I loved your writing so much. You can’t believe how much I love finding horsewomen who are also beautiful writers. I’ll be obsessively reading your posts tonight 🙂

I read all your books in the Eventing series and fell in love. You do such a good job putting together a story that makes your characters come to life. At the end of book 5 I was so sad it was over. Are you going to make another book after Forward? Thank you for writing the series. I will definitely be reading more of your books.

Hi Carrie! Thank you so much for the message. I am so so happy to know the Eventing Series meant something to you.

I’m currently planning on working on the sixth book this fall with a holiday release date.

I clicked on your survey about which series I liked best but it was hard choosing which one. Also, you didn’t include the two stand alones, “Grabbing Mane” and “Hidden Horses of New York”, which are definitely among my favorites. I have written you before (last year some time) about the wonderful, lyrical quality of your prose, especially in descriptions of the ambiance, but it bears repeating. One of the things I especially appreciate is that most of your protagonists are mature; your books are not aimed just at devotees of “National Velvet” and “The Black Stallion” – thank you very much. We women of a certain age (and older) like to read about people like ourselves finding love, learning new things about horses and riding, even getting into a new lifestyle, as in “Grabbing Mane”. I also like the Conoctin Creek books characters involved with horses in very different ways.

I’m from Woodsboro in Frederick County. How far is that from where you grew up? I’ve enjoyed reading about Trout’s Market because we have one here, going to Frederick, I’m about 10 miles from there, shopping on Market Street. I taught at Thurmont Middle School for 17 years and looked at those mountains every weekday on my way to school. I travel over Route 77 through the mountains to visit my sister in Williamsport. Can’t wait to read the fourth book. Thanks for making these personal for me.

    • Natalie Keller Reinert says:

Hi Mitzi! How exciting! Yes I lived in Woodsboro for a time when I was a teenager. I was a waitress at Crum’s and everything! So you know exactly where Catoctin Creek is set 🙂

When do we get a movie of the Eventing Series? I think Sky Katz would be the perfect Jules. So much fun reading this series. You really capture the lifestyle, challenges and brief rewards.

How would one read all these books in order! I’ve looked everywhere and I don’t want to read out of order!!!

    • Natalie Keller Reinert says:

I recommend you just pick a series you like the sound of and start there. Jumping in and out of a series isn’t necessarily the best way!
